Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
Acquired brain injury covers all situations in which brain injury has occurred since birth. It includes traumatic brain injury (TBI) as well as tumour, stroke, brain haemorrhage, hypoxia and encephalitis for example. ABI can result in cognitive, physical, speech and language, or behavioural difficulties which can result in permanent or temporary changes in functioning.
